Our History

A house that has never changed address.

I

No takeover. No merger. No large group behind it, just a family, a village, a piece of land.

The Joly family has been cultivating its vines in Noé-les-Mallets since 1746. No takeover, no merger, no large group behind, just a family, a village, a Kimmeridgian soil that they know better than anyone.

The Veuve Doussot brand was created in the early 1970s, founded by Georges Joly and his brothers. Their initial conviction was simple: to make quality champagne, respecting the terroir and without compromising on the care taken at each stage of production.

Today, Stéphane Joly carries on this legacy with the same quiet dedication as his father and grandfather before him. He works with his family, season after season, with a constant ambition: that each vintage lives up to what this terroir can offer.

I am happy to continue this family story in the same spirit as my grandfather, my father and my uncles, with the conviction that quality is built over time, not in haste.

Philosophy

The requirement as a starting point. Not as an objective.

II

At Veuve Doussot, excellence is built at every stage, from vine to bottle. Winemaking, blending, aging: everything is done on the estate, by the same hands, with the same philosophy. No steps are outsourced. No compromises are accepted.

Value · 01

Craftsmanship

Each stage of the winemaking process, including racking, riddling, disgorging, and corking, is carried out on the estate, using methods that combine traditional precision with contemporary rigor.

Value · 02

Respect for the land

Sustainable viticulture to preserve the richness of the Kimmeridgian soil of the Côte des Bar. What the land has taken centuries to build, we have no right to compromise in a few seasons.

Value · 03

Family transmission

From Georges Joly to Stéphane, the same commitment: to perpetuate a style, a signature, a way of making champagne that owes nothing to chance and everything to continuity.

From the plot to the cellar

From the vine
By the bottle.
No middleman.

III

Three moments. Three gestures. The same care, from the vine to the cork.

The vine

The vineyard is cultivated with respect for natural balances. Every intervention is measured, limited to the bare minimum necessary to allow the soil to express itself, and for the grapes to be a true reflection of their year and their plot.

Winemaking

Bottling, riddling, disgorging, corking – all stages are carried out on the estate. Traditional methods, contemporary requirements. Nothing is delegated, everything is controlled.

The assembly

This is the most delicate and intimate step. A family affair, blending involves combining different crus, grape varieties, plots, and vintages to create the balance and character unique to each cuvée. It's an exercise in precision learned over decades, not seasons.
