Before champagne, there was Ratafia.
Ratafia is a typical Champagne drink, long served as an aperitif in wine-growing farms, before Champagne took over completely. It's making a comeback today, and for good reason.
Veuve Doussot's Champagne is made from a blend of grape must, the unfermented juice from our vines, and fine marc from Champagne, aged in oak barrels. The result is a sweet and complex liqueur, with aromas of dried fruit and currants that cannot be found anywhere else.
Ideal as an aperitif, excellent with a chocolate dessert or apple tart. And remarkable as a substitute for Port.
Warm and deep amber. Bright, clear.
Rich and generous. Currants, fig, date, cooked pear. Light vanilla touch from the barrel.
Smooth and warm. Well-balanced richness. Depth imparted by the barrel without being heavy. Long finish of dried fruit.
